A steel pool build starts the moment you decide a pool is right for your backyard. From there, Devin and our team walk you through every stage — evaluating your site, developing a design you’re excited about, handling the engineering and permitting, building your pool at our shop, and coordinating the crane and trades needed to get it into place.

Because every DA Steel Pool is fabricated as a complete, one-piece steel unit before it ever leaves our shop, the on-site portion of the process — crane delivery and installation — typically wraps up in just a few days, once your site is prepped and ready.

You’ll be kept informed at every stage, from your first estimate through the day the crane sets your pool in place.

Decide & Connect

Site Visit & Initial Consultation

Once you’ve decided a steel pool is right for your home, you connect with Devin and our team. We meet at your property to evaluate site conditions, talk through what you’re picturing, and review any City requirements or site restrictions we should plan around from day one.

Quote & Deposit

Preliminary Estimate & Design Contract

We put together a preliminary estimate based on your site visit and the size, features, and installation scope you’re after — including whether installation is part of your quote. Once you approve the design contract and put down a deposit, we start collaborating on ideas for your pool and backyard.

Pool Drawings

3D Design & Sign-Off

We develop a 3D representation of your backyard based on the concepts we’ve discussed, so you can see exactly how your pool will sit on your property before anything is built. Once the design is finalized, you sign off and we finalize the construction contract.

Scheduling & Permits

Site Plans, Engineering & City Approvals

Your finalized 3D concept becomes a comprehensive site plan. We obtain the structural engineering calculations and stamped drawings your project needs, prepare City permit applications, and guide you through the approval process. You’re placed in our build queue and given a clear timeline for what’s ahead — permitting typically takes 4 to 6 weeks.

Build

Fabrication At Our Shop

Once permits and engineering are in hand, your pool moves into our Greater Vancouver fabrication shop, where it’s built from 100% Canadian steel as a single, one-piece unit. If installation is part of your quote, we arrange all the trades — electrical, plumbing, and landscaping — needed to be ready once your pool arrives.

Site Prep

Preparing Your Backyard

While your pool is being built, your site is prepared to match a geographical survey of your yard — typically a poured concrete slab or a bed of crushed gravel, depending on your ground conditions. Site preparation generally takes 1 to 2 weeks and can happen in parallel with the final stages of fabrication.

Delivery

Paint, Crane & Flat Deck Delivery

Once your paint colour is confirmed, we schedule your pool’s finish just before delivery. About a week out, we begin planning the delivery day itself — your pool travels by flat deck truck, and a crane lifts and lowers it into place. We help organize and coordinate with a recommended crane company for the day of the lift.

Installation

Pool Set In Place & Finishing Trades

Your prefabricated pool is lifted by crane and set into its prepared site. From there, our recommended trades — or a contractor of your choice — complete plumbing, electrical, backfill, and landscaping, so your new pool is ready to enjoy. Delivery and installation of the pool itself is usually completed within just a few days.

Q. Can I use my own contractor for the finishing trades?

Yes. Installation — plumbing, electrical, backfill, and landscaping — can be handled by a DA Steel Pools partner company or by a contractor of your own choosing, whichever works best for your project.

Q. Can a steel pool be installed on a sloped or difficult lot?

Yes. Because the pool arrives as a single engineered unit and is set by crane, steel pools can be installed on sloped, tight, or otherwise challenging BC backyards that would be difficult for a poured or on-site-built pool.
